Before she had access to EMSI’s regionalized labor market analysis, Sharon Dwyer used to go through a painstaking process to locate information for the area that encompasses Ventura College’s Center of Excellence. But now it’s much easier to find the economic intelligence that she needs on a handful of southern Californian counties, including San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and northern Los Angeles. “EMSI is hugely beneficial in my ability to be able to look at data for my region as a whole versus trying to piece together county data from three-plus different counties,” Dwyer says. Armed with the necessary figures, she is able provide information on the emerging and high-demand industries to the center’s regional colleges, which can then shape their program offerings or apply for grants using an data-driven strategy.
