Part 2: Identifying In-Demand Industry Sectors and Occupations

1-2 p.m. EST (10-11 a.m. PST) Thursday, December 4, 2014

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) requires that each local workforce board submits a comprehensive four-year local plan with an analysis of regional economic conditions—including existing and emerging in-demand industry sectors and occupations as well as the employment needs of businesses in those sectors. In this webinar, John Hawkins (Sr. Consultant, EMSI) will dive deeper into local labor market analysis to explain the key data metrics and best practices associated with occupation and sector analyses. Topics covered will include the following:

  • Industry performance (using shift share analysis)

  • Impact analysis (using economic multipliers)

  • Economic base analysis (using regional imports, exports, and sales).

Join us to learn how to zero in on industry sectors in order to help establish partnerships between regional businesses.
