Over the next few weeks EMSI will host two webinars to walk through textbook examples of how Career Coach helps market college programs to students and gets vital career information into students’ hands.
1. How to Build a Successful Marketing Strategy Around Career Coach
When: On Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. EST (11:00 a.m. PST), Todd Oldham, VP of Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services at Monroe Community College, will join EMSI to discuss how MCC has prepared and promoted Career Coach.
Description: Todd and the staff at MCC are gearing up for the big launch of Career Coach. In the two weeks leading up to the launch, MCC has seen over 5,000 hits on its website, had numerous requests from community organizations for more information, and ample media attention.
In this webinar you will hear about how the college has achieved this success and what MCC has done to prepare Career Coach for Rochester. Todd will be presenting MCC’s strategies and success stories for building a marketing strategy around Career Coach.
If you are not familiar with Career Coach, Larson Hicks from EMSI will present a brief overview of the tool as well.
MCC’s Career Coach has been featured in the news, which you can see here: (TV segment) and (local paper)
2. How Avenue Scholars Is Serving Underprivileged Students with the Help of Career Coach
When: Twice in the next month — on Wednesday, February 29 and Thursday, March 29, both at 2 p.m. EST — EMSI will host webinars with Wayne Brown, Chief Career Officer, at the Avenue Scholars Foundation.
Description: Avenue Scholars, an Omaha-based organization, has had great success providing intrusive support to low-income students through high school, college and into their careers. In partnership with local educational institutions and workforce groups, Avenue Scholars implemented Career Coach with its students last year. “Career Coach is their personal GPS,” Brown said. “It’s how they figure out where they’re going to go with their life. It’s how they figure out what they’re going to major in college. It’s how they figure out and negotiate that world of work and what they should be specializing in. We use it as a highly structured tool. It’s been very important to us.”
In this webinar you will hear how Wayne and Avenue Scholars have used Career Coach as a starting point for students.
Read more about Wayne’s work with Career Coach and how other partners in Omaha, including the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Metropolitan Community College, are using Career Coach.
