Derivatives

Derivatives are financial contracts that derive their value from underlying assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities, or currencies. They are commonly used for hedging, speculation, or arbitrage purposes. Derivatives trading requires specialized skills and knowledge of pricing models, risk management, and market behavior. It is a complex and highly regulated activity that involves a wide range of market participants, including banks, hedge funds, corporations, and individual investors.

Equity Derivative refers to financial instruments whose value is derived from the price of underlying equity securities. This skill encompasses the understanding of various types of equity derivatives, such as options and futures, which are used for hedging, speculation, and enhancing portfolio performance. Knowledge of Equity Derivative enables the user to analyze market trends, assess risk, and implement strategies that manage exposure to equity price fluctuations.

Greeks (Finance) refers to the skill of understanding and applying the five dimensions of risk involved in options trading, namely Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, and Rho. Liquidity risk is the risk of an organization being unable to meet its financial obligations when they become due without incurring unacceptable losses. It requires specialized skills to manage, as it involves understanding and forecasting cash flows, identifying potential disruptions to those cash flows, and implementing strategies to mitigate the risk. Effective liquidity risk management helps organizations maintain access to funding and ensure they can meet their financial commitments despite unexpected events or market conditions.

OTC derivatives involve privately negotiated agreements between two parties with customized terms and conditions, unlike standardized derivatives which trade on exchanges.
