One of the valuable resources on green jobs and two-year college training programs to come out recently is the National Council for Workforce Education’s “Going Green” paper. It reinforces the critical role that community colleges play in developing a green workforce on the local and regional level and highlights the work being done at a host of two-year colleges around the country.
Here’s an excerpt:
Community colleges – with their connections to local and regional labor markets and the flexibility to respond to emerging industries and their changing skill needs – are the perfect gateway to good green jobs, preparing workers with the skills and competencies needed for green industries, and ensuring that these industries do not face a shortage of adequately trained workers.
