Activating Regional Skills for Industry Growth

Indy Chamber and regional workforce partners needed a clearer understanding of how skills demand was changing across Indianapolis as industries evolved and employers struggled to find qualified talent. Leaders were working to accelerate workforce readiness but lacked a shared, data-informed view of which skills were most in demand, where gaps existed, and how education and training systems aligned with employer needs. Lightcast supported the Indy Accelerate Skills initiative by analyzing regional labor market data to identify priority skills, in-demand occupations, and emerging workforce trends across key industries. The analysis helped clarify how skill requirements were shifting and where targeted investment could improve alignment between talent supply and employer demand.

The resulting insights informed regional workforce strategy and supported collaboration among employers, education providers, and workforce organizations. Partners used the data to guide program design, prioritize upskilling efforts, and focus resources on skills with the greatest impact on employment outcomes. By grounding the initiative in consistent labor market intelligence, the project helped strengthen coordination across the region and supported efforts to build a more responsive and skills-aligned workforce in Indianapolis.
