Greensboro's Out-of-the-Box Approach to Talent Attraction
Helping regional leaders use labor market intelligence to improve talent pipelines and economic outcomes.

Action Greensboro needed a clearer understanding of how workforce supply, education pathways, and employer demand intersect across the Greensboro region. Community leaders were working to address persistent talent gaps and improve economic mobility, but they lacked a shared, data-driven view of where misalignment existed between education systems and labor market needs. Lightcast supported Action Greensboro by analyzing regional labor market data to examine employment trends, in-demand occupations, skill requirements, and workforce supply across key industries. The analysis helped clarify where the region was producing sufficient talent and where gaps were limiting growth and opportunity.
The resulting insights supported more coordinated decision-making among education, workforce, and economic development partners. Action Greensboro used the findings to inform strategy discussions, align stakeholders around common priorities, and guide initiatives focused on strengthening local talent pipelines. By grounding collaboration in consistent labor market evidence, the project helped the region better connect education and workforce efforts to long-term economic goals and community outcomes.
