Showcasing Career Mobility and Opportunity Across the Restaurant Workforce
The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation needed a clear and credible way to communicate the scope, characteristics, and career pathways of the restaurant workforce. Industry leaders and policymakers lacked consistent data showing how restaurant jobs support skill development, career mobility, and economic participation across communities. Lightcast supported the Restaurants Work initiative by delivering interactive dashboards through eIMPACT, using labor market data to highlight employment trends, skill requirements, workforce demographics, and career progression within the restaurant industry. This approach made complex workforce data more accessible and usable for a broad range of stakeholders.
The resulting dashboards strengthened the foundation’s ability to present an evidence-based view of the restaurant sector. Stakeholders used the insights to better understand workforce dynamics, support training and education initiatives, and inform workforce policy discussions. By combining labor market intelligence with intuitive data visualization, the project helped clarify the role of restaurant careers in workforce participation and long-term economic opportunity.
