This Acceptable Use Policy (this “Policy”) describes rules that apply to any party using Services provided by Lightcast.

Capitalized terms not otherwise defined in this Policy will have the meaning set forth in Lightcast’s General Terms of Service.

Customer is responsible for its users’ compliance with this policy. If Customer or its users violate this Policy, Lightcast may suspend Customer’s use of the Services. This Policy may be updated by Lightcast from time to time upon reasonable notice, which may be provided via Customer’s account, e-mail, or by posting an updated version of this Policy here.

1. Disruption.

You may not do any of the following:

1.1. Compromise the integrity of our systems. This could include probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any system or network that hosts our Services. This prohibition does not apply to security assessments expressly permitted by Lightcast.

1.2 Tamper with, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or hack our Services, circumvent any security or authentication measures, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services, related systems, networks, or data.

1.3 Modify, disable, or compromise the integrity or performance of the Services or related systems, network, or data or bypass any security mechanism or filtering capabilities.

1.4 Manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any content transmitted on or to the Services, or the source of any content.

1.5 Overwhelm or attempt to overwhelm our infrastructure by imposing an unreasonably large load on our systems that consume extraordinary resources (CPUs, memory, disk space, bandwidth, etc.), such as using “robots,” “spiders,” “offline readers,” or other automated systems, or going far beyond the use parameters for any given service as described in its corresponding documentation.

1.6 Upload any content that contains viruses, bots, worms, scripting exploits, or other similar materials.

2. Wrongful Activities.

You may not do any of the following:

2.1 Use the Services to violate the privacy of others, including publishing, posting, or using other people’s Personal Information in violation of any Applicable Laws.

2.2 Use the Services for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any Applicable Laws (including without limitation data, privacy, and export control laws).

2.3 Access or search any part of the Services by any means other than our publicly supported interfaces (for example, “scraping”).

2.4 Use the Services to create, transmit, distribute or store material that violates the Intellectual Property Rights of others, impairs the privacy of communications, or constitutes or encourages fraudulent or criminal conduct or give rise to civil liability.

2.5 Share or enable others to share usernames, passwords, API keys, or other access credentials, allow the Services to be used, in any format, by unauthorized third parties, use a generic email account as credentials for multiple users, or allow anyone to access the Services who is not authorized to do so.

2.6 Use the services to generate or send unsolicited bulk communications, advertising, or spam.

3. Violation of Rights.

You may not do any of the following:

3.1 Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sublicense, or re-sell any part of the Services except as expressly allowed by the Agreement or the Permitted Use.

3.2 Build, or assist in the creation of, a competitive product or service which is substantially similar to or a reasonable substitute for the Services.

3.3 Create any derivative works of the Services, Data, or Lightcast’s Intellectual Property Rights that are not expressly authorized in the Permitted Use.

3.4 Use any automated means, process, or data extraction technique to access, query, or otherwise collect data from the Services.

3.5 Customer may not use the Services or Data, directly or indirectly, to train any artificial intelligence system, including but not limited to any large language, statistical, and machine learning models, knowledge engines, etc.

The prohibited conduct in this Policy is not exhaustive. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Agreement, if Lightcast concludes, in its sole discretion, that a violation of this Policy has occurred or that a violation is imminent, Lightcast shall have the right to immediately suspend access to the Services. Lightcast shall inform Customer in writing without undue delay of such suspension and provide details of the violation. A violation of this Policy constitutes a material breach of the Agreement between Customer and Lightcast.
