A Modified-Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) is a specialized skill in which a radiologist or speech-language pathologist observes a person swallowing different consistencies and textures of food and liquid while using a type of x-ray called fluoroscopy. This study is used to diagnose and evaluate swallowing disorders and inform treatment plans to address them.
