Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) is the certification program for registered nurses who specialize in working with patients who have kidney disease and require dialysis treatment. The certification recognizes a nurse‚Äôs advanced knowledge and skills in providing safe and effective dialysis care. To become a Certified Dialysis Nurse, a nurse must have a valid RN license, a minimum of 2,000 hours of dialysis experience, and pass the certification exam. The exam covers topics such as dialysis principles, patient assessment, treatment modalities, complications of dialysis, and infection control. The certification is valid for three years and requires ongoing continuing education to maintain.
