Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is a certification that allows registered nurses (RNs) to specialize in providing medical care to newborn infants, particularly those who are premature or critically ill. These specialized nurses work with neonatologists and other healthcare providers to monitor and administer treatment to newborns in hospital settings such as neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). To become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, a candidate must complete an accredited nursing program, gain licensure as an RN, and complete a graduate-level Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. They must also pass the certification exam administered by the National Certification Corporation.
