Application Delivery Controller

Application Delivery Controller refers to a network device that optimizes the delivery of applications over the internet or intranet. This skill encompasses load balancing, traffic management, and application acceleration, which enhance the performance and reliability of applications. Knowledge of Application Delivery Controller is used to ensure efficient resource allocation, improve user experience, and maintain application availability by managing incoming traffic and distributing it across multiple servers.

Cisco ACI refers to Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure, a software-defined networking architecture for automating and managing data center networks through policy-based control. This skill involves designing application-centric policies, configuring fabric components such as leaves, spines, tenants, and endpoint groups, and integrating Cisco ACI with virtualization platforms and external networks. It is used to standardize network configurations, enforce security and segmentation, and monitor and troubleshoot data center network operations through centralized management.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) refers to an approach to computer networking that enables the management and configuration of network resources through software applications. This skill involves the separation of the control plane from the data plane, allowing for centralized control and automation of network operations. Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) is used to enhance network flexibility, improve resource allocation, and facilitate rapid deployment of services by enabling dynamic adjustments to network configurations in response to changing demands.

VMWare NSX-T refers to a network virtualization and security platform used to create and manage software defined networks in virtualized data center environments. It is used to segment network traffic, define routing and switching policies, and control connectivity between workloads and applications. In professional settings, it supports centralized network administration, automation, and security policy enforcement across cloud and virtual infrastructure.

VxLAN is a virtual networking technology that overlays Layer 2 networks on top of Layer 3 networks. This enables large-scale, multi-tenant virtual networks to be created, which enhances network scalability and flexibility. VxLAN uses a 24-bit Network Identifier (VNID) to separate tenant traffic, and allows for efficient network segmentation, enabling IT organizations to create separate logical network segments for different applications, departments or customers. VxLAN is widely used in data center environments to facilitate virtual machine mobility and improve network agility. It requires specialized skills and knowledge of virtual networking technologies to implement and manage effectively.
