Structural Biology
Structural Biology is a specialized field of study dedicated to the analysis of the structure and function of biomolecules. It involves using experimental techniques such as X-ray crystallography, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Cryo-electron microscopy (Cryo-EM) and computational methods to solve biological macromolecular structures. Structural biologists aim to understand the three-dimensional structures of proteins, nucleic acids and other molecules, and the interactions between them in order to reveal their roles in biological processes and to develop strategies for disease control and drug design. It requires a combination of skills in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science.
