Inc. Magazine has again recognized EMSI as one of America’s fastest-growing companies, placing the Idaho-based firm in the Inc. 5,000 for the fourth year in a row.
EMSI achieved its second-highest ranking, at No. 950. Last year it was named to the Inc. 500 list.
Inc. determines the fastest-growing companies according to percentage revenue growth over the past three years (in this year’s case, 2006 to 2009). EMSI has grown 313% in revenue since ’06.

EMSI provides software systems (Analyst and Career Coach) that help clients better understand regional employment, economic impact reports that assess the economic contribution of colleges and universities, and custom consulting reports for a wide variety of clients.
Since 2000, EMSI has completed nearly 1,000 economic impact studies for colleges to determine their regional economic contribution. Nearly half of U.S. community colleges — plus a variety of four-year institutions — have used EMSI’s impact study to show their bottom-line return on investment to students and taxpayers alike.
In 2003, EMSI launched its web-based labor market data tool (formerly Strategic Advantage, now Analyst), which is currently used by nearly 3,000 practitioners across the US and UK.
EMSI also recently developed Career Coach, which allows colleges, career centers, and workforce boards to give jobseekers access to the most up-to-date information on specific jobs (earnings, openings, training/education, and postings). Also in the last year, EMSI consultants have completed major workforce studies for leaders in Will County, Ill., and the Greater Milwaukee region, as well as education-oriented reports for, among others, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and the Idaho State Board of Education/State Division of Professional-Technical Education.
