NEW: Skills Taxonomy Update

On Monday, June 11, Emsi released the latest update to the skills taxonomy that powers our suite of labor market analytics tools. With this update, users can filter and search by thousands of newer, emerging skills that capture the latest labor market trends!

For example, a nation-wide search for “Cloud Engineer Architects” shows that in-demand hard skills include increasingly popular concepts and technologies like Infrastructure as a Service and Docker (see below). We’re excited about this release because we understand that measuring demand for skills like these is critical to understanding the needs of employers, especially in rapidly innovating sectors like tech and IT.

Also, because these skills are tagged not just in job postings but also in our alumni and workforce profile database, we can compare how frequently they appear in both sources—an added perspective that provides even greater insight into skill gaps and shifting trends.

This latest update is just a small example of Emsi’s commitment to providing you with the best data so you can make the best decisions. To receive future product and news updates from Emsi, subscribe to our blog.
