The world of work is changing. Whoever you listen to – government, employers, learners, education providers, economic regeneration organisations – it’s all about skills, skills, skills. Recognition of the increasing importance of understanding the skills dynamic can be seen at the highest levels, with the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, declaring 2023 to be the “European Year of Skills”. But here are three simple but vital questions on skills that must be answered if we are to truly unlock the full potential of the labour market for workers and employers:

- What skills are actually needed?

- Where are they needed?

- How are these needs changing?

Throughout 2023, we’re going to be addressing these key questions in webinars, reports, blogs, videos, and dashboards. In this opening webinar where we’ll be using our skills data across Europe to show how these questions can be answered, particularly in relation to digital skills, and how such answers can be used to unlock new possibilities in the labour market.
