Presentation summary:

Today, many institutions are seeking ways to better demonstrate their value to prospective students, current students, and the public. The career services team at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is tackling this challenge through an innovative program that helps learners identify the in-demand skills they need to achieve their goals, and articulate the work-relevant skills they learn during their time at CU. As a result, students see greater value in their coursework and are better prepared to enter the workforce with confidence.

In this webinar, attendees will hear from Alaina Nickerson, Associate Director of Career Services at CU Boulder as she is joined by John Barnshaw (VP, Education Success) and Rachel Otto (Senior Manager, Education Success) of Lightcast to discuss:

  • The importance of (re)defining “student success” to encompass career outcomes

  • How CU Boulder is helping students transition from college to career through an innovative “Skills for Success” program.

  • Practical strategies for generating support and securing institutional buy-in

  • Examples of other institutions demonstrating value by aligning education, skills, and career outcomes
