We’re excited to announce that Dr. Michelle Weise and Dr. Carlo Salerno from Strada Education Network℠ (Strada) will deliver keynotes at the eighth annual Emsi Conference, September 10-12, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Dr. Michelle Weise
Dr. Michelle Weise is senior vice president of workforce strategies at Strada Education Network, as well as chief innovation officer of the newly launched Strada Institute for the Future of Work. She will speak on Strada’s vision for The Future of Work as a “new kind of R&D lab” dedicated to identifying solutions for working adults and informing Strada’s mission impact investments.
“The future of our nation’s economic prosperity and competitiveness will depend on a citizenry that regularly retools itself for the future of work,” Weise wrote in her article We Need to Design the Learning Ecosystem of the Future. “Let’s begin seeding the foundational elements of a learning ecosystem of the future—flexible enough for adults to move consistently in and out of learning and work.”

Dr. Carlo Salerno
Dr. Carlo Salerno serves as Strada’s vice president of data analytics. At the Emsi Conference, he will speak on the vision for and most recent results of the Strada-Gallup Education Consumer Survey.
Launched in 2016 by Gallup and Strada, the Education Consumer Survey is a daily survey of 350 U.S. adults that strives to give a voice to higher education consumers. The 2017 survey revealed a “crisis of confidence,” discovering that only a third of students believe they will graduate with the skills and knowledge to be successful in the job market (34%) and in the workplace (36%), while just over half (53%) actually believe their major will lead to a good job.
Dr. Salerno will discuss the role that data plays in solving these problems and promoting student success in the job market. “How do we help prospective and current students make sensible choices that reflect their aspirations and abilities?” he asked in his article Building On-Ramps to Student Success. “We do it with the data, but most importantly, we do it with the right kind of data…. What [students] sorely need is much better information about the economic returns a degree can yield.”
