The type of industry companies operate within determine what levers they can pull to mitigate talent gaps. There are only four options: local workforce development, immigration, offshoring, and AI or automation.

For each company, Lightcast examined its job postings to analyze skill trends in AI and automation. High exposure to these technologies indicates a modernizing workforce and the ability to augment workforce shortages or enhance worker capacity.
